Wakefield Theatre Trust
Non-executive Chair of the Board
Wakefield Theatre Trust owns and manages the Theatre Royal Wakefield, and is currently seeking a new chair for the Board of Directors.

The Theatre Royal is a Grade II* listed building. It was purchased by the Trust in 1981 and re-opened following major restoration in 1986. Over the past 24 years the theatre has been operating continuously as both a receiving and producing house, and more recently has developed a considerable reputation for its education and community engagement work, primarily within the communities of Wakefield District. Capital plans include further restoration of the present building and a new extension which will provide greatly enhanced facilities for audiences, staff and artists.

We are looking for someone who is charismatic, has a strong interest in the arts (and performance in particular), business experience in the cultural sector or comparable fields and is prepared to devote significant time and energy to ensuring that the theatre continues to flourish whilst acknowledging the challenges of the current economic climate.

If you feel you could make a significant contribution to our future development, then we would like to hear from you. A full information pack is available and the closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday 30 August 2010. As a charitable trust there is no remuneration attached to the role although reimbursement of expenses will be considered in appropriate cases.
