Senior ACE manager goes to Bolton theatre
Arts Council England director Roddy Gauld has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Octagon Theatre in Bolton.
Gauld is currently director, National Portfolio at ACE where he is responsible for introducing the new national portfolio funding programme. In six years at the Arts Council he has worked regionally and nationally as a theatre and touring specialist. He was previously administration manager for Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield and has a background in youth and participatory arts. He takes up his now post at the Octagon in April, joining artistic director David Thacker and Associate Director Elizabeth Newman. Current Executive Director, John Blackmore, is leaving to pursue his freelance work as a theatre consultant after 12 years at the Octagon.
The Bristol Old Vic has made two changes to its top team. Emma Bettridge has been appointed as the new producer of Ferment, the theatre’s artist development programme. Currently director of the Pulse Fringe Festival in Ipswich, she replaces Kate Yedigaroff who is leaving to establish MAYK, a new independent producing company.
Joe Spurgeon has also been appointed to the new position of Marketing Manager. An experienced editor, journalist and project manager, Bristol Old Vic is undergoing a major multi-million pound redevelopment, whose first phase will be completed in summer 2012, when the building with reopen with a newly refurbished Georgian auditorium,
Warwick Arts Centre has chosen Matt Burman as head of programme and audiences, Matt joins from the Norfolk and Norwich Festival where he was executive producer Previously, Matt was general manager for Forced Entertainment and has also worked for The Big Chill and The British Council Performing Arts Department.
The Fine Art Society have appointed a new head of contemporary. She is Kate Bryan, who joins from The Cat Street Gallery in Hong Kong where she was gallery director for the past four years.
