School honours achievers
Carrie Fisher, Bette Bourne and the partnership of Joseph Seelig and Helen Lannaghan are to become honorary fellows of the Central School of Speech and Drama at a Royal Festival Hall ceremony on Monday (December 12).
Each nominee has been proposed - Carrie Fisher, the star of the Star Wads series, by her mother Debbie Reynolds. The cross-dressing actor Bette Bourne has been put forward by playwright Mark Ravenhill, and William Burdett Coutts has nominated the co-directors of the London International Mime Festival Joseph Seelig and Helen Lannaghan.
Each year Central seeks to honour people from across the performing arts by awarding a small number of Fellowships. Nominations are sought from throughout the School including staff and students. It is seen as a part of a process of engaging and bringing people closer to the life of the School.
