Lisa Burger takes top Lyric role

Lisa Burger, the National Theatre’s executive director, has been appointed chair of the Lyric Hammersmith today, with immediate effect.

She succeeds Sir William Watkinson after five years as a Lyric trustee, and she will work closely with artistic director Sean Holmes and the Lyric’s executive director Sian Alexander.

“The Lyric has a bold and clear vision to produce the highest quality theatre alongside nurturing the creativity of young people and developing pathways into theatre for young talent from all backgrounds” Burger said today.

Burger had been the National’s finance director since 2001 under Nick Hytner before becoming executive director with Rufus Norris’s appointment as artistic director in 2015, a role she continues in.
