Barbican tunnel becomes artwork
The tunnel through The Barbican Centre in London is become an art installation for a weekend.
Beech Street will become part of Culture Mile on March 17 and 18 to present Tunnel Visions: Array as part of Barbican OpenFest. With music by Esa-Pekka Salonen and a light installation by the 59 Productions collective, the tunnel is to be transformed into an artwork for the first time in a co-production with the Barbican.
Culture Mile was launched last July to create a vibrant cultural area in the north-west corner of the City over the next ten to 15 years, from Farringdon to Moorgate, with creative exchange, cultural collaboration and learning at its base.
