Rachel Thomas to be Hayward’s chief curator
Rachel Thomas, head of exhibitions at Irish Museum of Modern Art for 20 years, is to be the chief curator at the Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre.
Reporting to director Ralph Rugoff she will work alongside curator Yung Ma, starting on April 28.
Thomas has made a special focus on feminism, post-colonialism and representing LGBTQ artists. “Rachel Thomas has curated some of the most inventive, adventurous and engaging exhibitions in Europe over the past two decades” said Rugoff “and I'm delighted that she will be bringing her distinctive vision and leadership to the Hayward Gallery.”
