Hamlyn's Moira Sinclair to chair Rowntree

Moira Sinclair, chair of Clore Leadership and for ten years CEO of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, is to be the new chair of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) is a charity that conducts and funds research aimed at solving poverty in the UK. JRF's stated aim is to "inspire action and change that will create a prosperous UK without poverty."

Sinclair has also been appointed a commissioner at Historic England as well as already serving on a number of other boards of trustees in the cultural and community sectors.

Hamlyn is an endowed foundation working with young people, communities experiencing inequity and disadvantage, immigrants and refugees, and particularly artists. Historic England is the statutory body responsible for the preservation and upkeep of England’s built heritage.

Sinclair will succeed Professor Carol Tannahill at JRF in January, and on her Linked In page gives an insight into her new appointments.

“There is an intellectual stretch (which I love) as I start my inductions at Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) andHistoric England, both organisations with proud roots and important contributions to make in how we want to live today” she says. “I am very pleased to be able to build on themes that were central to our work Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and I am hugely looking forward to reconnecting with the colleagues and friends in the trusts and foundations, housing and social justice worlds. And while the ‘new’ takes centre stage for a moment, I remain committed at Factory International, Clore Leadership and National Centre for Arts Education (NCAE) to championing access for all to culture and heritage as essential components of what makes us all expressive beings, able to realise our full potential in environments full of richness and creativity.”
